Enhancing elderly well-being, Kando’s smart solutions
Ellie Gonay was "born" in a nursing home. Having worked all her student jobs in this type of establishment, she always thought she would never work with the elderly.
However, after completing a training in psycho-geriatrics, she remained inevitably tied to this field, whether in her first job or when she returned to the nursing home, this time as a director.
The time she spent in the care sector, related to aging, and the relationships she built with residents, caregivers, and families, exposed her to numerous challenges. These challenges were related to caregiving, communication between care providers, and addressing the needs of elderly people and their loved ones.
Together with François-Xavier, CEO & co-founder, they wanted to provide a truly tailored solution for the elderly care sector and for everyone connected to it.
With the help of a consortium of caregivers, residents, and technological and scientific experts, they founded the Kando project over two and a half years ago.
Kando, what is it? Let us explain everything!
At Kando, Ellie Gonay and her team develop technological solutions (hardware, software, and artificial intelligence) that contribute to caring for elderly adults, ensuring their health and improving their well-being as well as that of those around them.
The Kando Box, connected to the person's TV, hosts a voice assistant. The information transmitted is displayed on the TV screen and shared on Kando Space, their management platform.
Ellie adds, "We have also developed the Kando Button, the smartest 'telecare' button on the market, designed to effectively respond to help calls and users' needs."
Finally, Kando's ultimate ambition is to launch Kando Predict, a solution that will collect data to predict aging-related pathologies such as urinary tract infections, fall risks, wandering, and much more.
Kando is thus creating a true ecosystem that connects all the actors in care, whether it be close caregivers, healthcare professionals, hospitals, local providers, or authorities.
Key numbers & highlights
- Planned commercialization for early 2025: The team is actively preparing to launch the products on the market.
- Team expansion: Kando plans to recruit over 10 additional team members in 2025.
- Creation of strategic partnerships: 2024 marks the beginning of multiple collaborations to enhance the impact of Kando’s solutions.
Kando & A6K
Kando is hosted in our center, with the goal of settling their entire team permanently in our ecosystem. Their presence allows them to form connections and partnerships with different actors who complement their products and services. "Being fully integrated into this ecosystem provides us with a local dynamic that is essential for our growth," says Ellie.
Fun fact about Kando?
During the development phases of their voice assistant, the Kando team spent days training it to respond to words like "Help!" and "Emergency!" Despite the repeated cries for help, their office neighbors never came to check what was happening.
